At Triella we believe that all firms should operate with a minimum level of Bronze Standard.
There are a total of 7 services that we have included in the Bronze Standard. These services form the base of establishing security standards at a firm. All the services are described below:
This service provides full backup for the firm’s server based data, recovery testing and disaster recovery plan for that technology. This includes backup servers which can provide services when needed in the event that the firm’s servers are not available.
With the help of the firm, we can establish the Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) to ensure the firm’s data is being backed up several times a day. This allows the firm to recover from any type of disaster and provides business continuity in the event of a disaster.
Whether your email is Office 365 or on premise, there is always a risk of it going down. Since email is the lifeblood of your business, you always want it to be available. Email Business Continuity provides that service.
Even if disaster strikes, the firm will not lose email functionality if they have email business continuity in place. Email access will always be available on a user’s mobile phone or on a web browser, even if the primary email service provider’s system is down.
End Point protection refers to securing end-user devices like desktops, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices. These devices serve as a point of access to a network and create points of entry that can be exploited by hackers.
Antivirus and malware protection for desktops and servers to prevent infections through viruses, phishing and other attempts to compromise your system. The tool used to provide this is typically installed on each desktop computer and server.
A firewall is the first layer of defence against hackers and traffic containing malware that might infect your network. It also controls the services that can communicate with your network from outside the office. Firewalls are delivered as appliances and offer a host of additional features including intrusion detection and prevention and monitoring for the firm’s traffic. The firewall also controls access for Wi-Fi devices connected to it which provides consistent access to the firm’s systems no matter how end users connect.
This service involves a review of all network accounts to ensure there is a one to one relationship with actual members of the firm. Failing to perform a network account review can increase risk on the firm’s systems:
- A terminated employee getting access to the firm’s network or email system.
- An employee getting access to a department he/she is not a part of.
- Misuse of dormant admin accounts that may still be active.
- Technology costs for departed employees who have not been removed from the firms systems.
This service involves applying Microsoft patching to all systems. Desktops are patched monthly and servers are patched quarterly. Patching is crucial for IT systems as it provides protection against known viruses and malware. It also helps improve productivity by improving efficiency of the systems.
Website filtering is the ability to filter out websites by category, class or specific URL. This allows the firm to block websites to control the types of sites that are allowed within the firm. In addition to blocking websites that may contain harmful links, this will also allow a firm to boost productivity by blocking websites that are not work related.
